July 2015 Curlbox Products Reviews

image

image

Ok so this blog post is wayyyy over due! Sorry guys. I wanted to share with you guys the products i received in my July curlbox. (The summer nights box) to be honest i was a bit skeptical about this box when first opened it, but I’m in love with all of these products. So let’s get started…

image

The first product i wanna share with you guys is the head & shoulders co-wash moisture care line. It has vitamin e rich almond oil and coconut essence. I was really scared to try this product  at first I’m not going to lie. I haven’t use any head & shoulders products in years. I wasn’t sure what to expect. I must say i was impressed! I love this co-wash!!! It made my hair silky soft, very easy to manage. The smell is the bomb! It has a tropical coconut smell to it. My curls where shiny and soft after just one use. I’m definitely buying this co-wash again!!!

7 great benefits
* removes flakes
* calms itching
*relieves irritation
*reduce redness
*fights dryness
*leaves hair beautiful
*great scent

The next product i wanna talk about is the Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Smooth conditioning treatment. I was super excited to try this!!! I’ve only heard great things about aussie products. When i say my curls were super define and frizz free! Thanks to it’s super moisturizing blend of olive oil and Australian ginseng. This product definitely got the job done for those hot humid summer days. I’ve been fighting frizz all summer and this product gave me defined curls that lasted all day. No doubt that I’m definitely buying this again for sure. And the bonus is it smells amazing!!!! That’s always a plus for me when it comes to hair products.

image

The next product is the Pantene Expert Collection with Pro-V Advanced + Keratin Repair. (Split end fuser)  to be honest i haven’t really seen a difference in my hair from using this product. I’ve only use it a handful of times. This product is suppose to prevent split ends, dullness and dryness. A bonus for me is that it does have a really good smell. I don’t think I’ll buy this product again. It wasn’t a big hit with me.

image

The next product is Head & Shoulders Moisture Care Scalp Soother. With peppermint oil complex and vitamin e. It’s designed to cool the scalp and improves moisture balance. I’ve only used this product once. I don’t have any scalp problems, but i can say it did give me an instant cooling feeling that i really like a lot. So if you’re someone that has dry and itchy scalp i definitely think you should give it a try. I won’t be buying this product again. Only because i don’t need it.

And lastly the final product that was in my July curl box is the Aussie Instant Freeze Hairspray. I used this product on a flexi-rod set and i must say i really like it. The hold level is extreme. It definitely did freeze my curls in place without leaving my hair stiff. My curls still had body and bounce. It also has a good smell which i love of course lol. This is another Aussie product that i will be buying again. This product will come in handy for Fall/Winter when i wear more productive styles. So Thumbs up for Aussie!!! 👍👍

Have you guys tried any of these products? What did you think?

Fingercoils

My new go to protective style is fingercoils!!!! I wanted to share with you guys on how i achieve my fingercoils. So lets get started…

*products used*
Shea Moisture curl enhancing smoothie.
-Cantu Argan oil leave-in conditioner.
-Eco styler gel.

First i co-wash my hair using conditioner. Then apply leave-in conditioner. After that i section my hair into fours. With a Part in the middle, you can part your hair anyway you wanna style it. I start from the back working my way up to the front of my hair. One of my sections in the back i make that into four sections, i decided to do medium coils. You can do smaller sections if you want a smaller coil. Next i add the curl smoothie and gel to one section from root to end then twirl my hair around my finger from root to end making a tight coil. I continue this method throughout my whole head, leaving me with 16 fingercoils. Once dry i separate the coils into smaller sections to give a more fuller look. (Dont forget to use oil on your hands while separating to reduce frizz) Last but not least i grab my pick to fluff the roots to add volume. the bigger the better!!! They usually last for about a week. Here’s the final look…

How to get the perfect wash & go

i decided to share my tips and the products i use to achieve the perfect wash & go. (Well its perfect for me lol) so lets get started.

1. Co-wash your hair with your favorite conditioner. I use the Shea Moisture Coconut and Hibiscus line. I also detangle my hair with this conditioner. Its gives my hair a lot of slip which makes it easy to comb through.

2. After i wash out my conditioner, next i apply my leave-in. I use Cantu Argan oil leave-in conditioner. Then i apply my cream. I use Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie. Next i apply my oil. I use 100% Coconut oil. As you can see i use the LCO Method. Lol

3. Finally after i seal my hair in by using the LOC Method. I grab my olive oil ECO styler gel. And start to rake the gel in my hair starting from the back working my way to the front. After i completed all 3 steps this is what my hair looks like….

image

At this point i just allow my hair to air dry. Which takes a few hours. 😩 i really need to invest in a diffuser. Once my hair is 100% dry. I put a lil bit of coconut oil on my hands and rub it over my curls to break up the gel cast. Lastly i take my pick fluff the roots and there you have it. The perfect wash &go!!! Final look!…

Hopefully my tips can help someone thats having a difficult time trying to achieve frizz free, popping curls for their wash&go.

Let me what you guys think curlfriends!

Love Your Curls!

http://youtu.be/ou7CyPtkpng

This is the most touching commercial I’ve seen in a very long time. Dove out did themselves with this one. I remember when i was a lil girl i hated my curly hair. I use to beg my grandmother to hot comb my hair. Big curly hair wasn’t what my peers were wearing at the time. Big updos and finger waves were the it styles. There weren’t anyone on tv or anyone who i can remember that had hair like mine.

So now that im grown, i learned to embrace and love my curls. I’ve been on this natural hair journey for almost 1 year now. I never felt so liberated and free in my life. I love my curls because they make me unique, I love my curls because its my own natural texture, no one else has hair like mines because i was born with this hair. I love my curls because its versatile. i love my curls because of the bounce and volume. And most importantly i love my curls because it’s who i’am!!!!

Now that im a mom to a beautiful baby girl. I will teach her to love and embrace her curls. And the best way to teach her that is showing her how much i love my curls! Self love is very important to teach our youth. LOVE YOUR CURLS!!!!!

Let me know how you feel about the video and why you love your curls!

Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus Products Reviews

Ok so i love shea moisture products so i decided to do reviews on the one’s that i use, which are my staples in my hair regimen by the way. So far ive been using the coconut & hibiscus curl & shine line. My hair loves it!!!!
So lets get started with the Shampoo!

image

The curl & shine shampoo is amazing! Its sulfate free & color safe and it also doesn’t have any of the yucky bad stuff thats bad for your hair like Parabens, Phthalates, mineral oil etc… its does have a lather which is something that i like because i feel like my hair is really getting cleanse. It leaves my hair super shiny, soft, moisturize and manageable. Oh the smell is also good! It reminds me of a tropical pina colada smoothie. Lol which is always a plus when it comes to hair products for me. Overall its a very good shampoo. This is what I’ve been using since i started my natural hair journey. my hair loves it so I’ve been sticking with it. Now on to the conditioner…..

image

This conditioner is the BOMB!!! I use it as a co-wash my curls are super defined, non- frizzy. same great smell as the Shampoo but better! I mean i just love! It also gives good slip which is good for detangling. I usually detangle in the shower. I let the conditioner sit on my hair for about  5-10 mins then i use my wide tooth comb to detangle. It literally takes me less than 5 mins to detangle my hair! Amazing!!! I really could just stop here and still have a bomb wash & go. My hair needs a stronger hold for it last for a few days.
Now i saved the best for last Curl enhancing smoothie!!!!!….

image

This Curl enhancing smoothie is a must for my wash & go’s! I mean i can’t do a wash & go without it!!! my hair just wont last as long or look the same. This product gives my hair a light hold. It makes my curls super defined, soft, shiny and moisturize! The smell just seals the deal for me. A lil goes a long way. I won’t have to buy another jar for months. Its also great for twist outs/ braid outs.

I highly recommend this line by Shea Moisture. I have yet to try any other line by Shea Moisture because im so in love the this one. lol So if any of you have tried others please comment below. I would love to know what else you curly girls are using. Also let me know if you are using any of these products, and are you in love with them as much as I’am!??? Lol

Adore 58 Cinnamon Semi- Permanent Hair Color Review.

Ok so i decided to do a mini product review on Creative Image Adore Semi- Permanent Hair Color in 58 Cinnamon.

image

This is my 3rd time using this hair color and i must say i love it!!! It leaves my hair super shiny and its very easy to apply to your hair. The price is very cheap as well. under 7$ you cant beat that!!!! I can get about two applications in this one bottle.(so awesome for the price) If you have longer hair then you may need to use the whole bottle. On my hair the color comes out to a nice golden carmel with just a hint of red! Very nice for fall/winter. This hair color contains no alcohol, no peroxide and no ammonia. so its not harsh on your natural curly hair. I haven’t had any damage to my curls at all!

after applying any hair color to your hair its always best to use a protein treatment. I use Palmers coconut oil formula protein pack. To give my hair back the protein that the color may have striped so i wont experience any damage to my curls. I try to give my hair a protein treatment at least once a month. Some benefits of using a protein treatment vs just your normal every day deep conditioner are…

* Strengthen follicles to protect new hair growth.
* Replaces natural proteins that have been stripped from damaged hair.
* Concentrated conditioning for intensive repair and moisturization.

To get the best results, it’s best to use this hair color on pervious lighting or bleach hair. If you have dark brown or black hair and you want a lighter hair color. This may not be the best color to use. My hair was pervious blonde so i was able to achieve the color i wanted. Here’s the end result!….

Have any of you curly girls use this hair color before? If so, how did it work out for you?
